Today, to wire or re wire a house or business premises often means to also install:
- Computer cables, called low voltage,
- Electric cables called high voltage.
The low voltage wiring is important, as is used to carry:
- Voice (telephony)
- Data (LANs)
- Video (video conferencing, image broadcast).
This is called VDI cabling: Voice Data Image.
Pre-wiring a building or a room ensures that there are a complete network of cables in place so that it can be effectively used regardless of the type of system requirement (voice, data, images)or the number of users.
